This year we
are for the 3rd time running Men’s, Ladies and Mixed Doubles
tournaments starting late October and concluding in March 2011, and
members are again invited to enter as pairs.
Depending on the number of entrants, the early part of the
tournament is likely to be in groups, with best pairs progressing to the
knock-out stage.
Entry is open
to Full Adult Members and Approved Juniors (i.e. approved by the
committee or coach to play with adults).
However we are also prepared to accept entries from Associate
Members who have improved to a standard whereby they are considering
upgrading to Full Membership. You
will understand that we now have a lot of Associate Members of vastly
differing ability. It would
not be appropriate for weaker players who have not already gained
significant experience at Adult Social sessions to enter, and to this
end the tournament committee decision on allowing entry will be final.

enter.
Most
importantly, this is a winter tournament.
Although round deadlines have been
generous in previous years year particularly in the early stages,
we have found that many members simply haven’t bother to arrange
matches until deadline approached, and then complained when the weather
was bad. If you are going to
enter, you are expected to make an effort to play matches as soon as
possible, and not to let your partners, opponents and tournament
committee down. There is a
lot of tennis over the winter with various leagues as well, so if you
don’t want to make the effort to organise and play matches, please
don’t bother entering. I
expect all participants to make contact with opponents as soon as the
draw is made.

DO NOT PAY FOR YOURSELF ONLY AND THEN EXPECT JON TO HAVE TO CHASE
MONEY
